La metamorfosi dei Koan con A-Session

•Sa.Gr.) Introduzione. Ritmi tribali. Folk. Blues. Rock’n roll. Swing. A-Session il titolo, un CD nuovo e una nuova veste per i Koan.
«È un excursus, tra i membri della band del Mendrisiotto è nata questa idea solo per gioco, come per consolidare le diverse esperienze dei componenti » ci rivela Lelo Cantù, chitarrista. Per chi segue i Koan si troverà piacevolmente spiazzato nel sentire i 9 brani contenuti in A-Session. « Siamo poco riconoscibili, ma con questo CD abbiamo deciso di abbracciare un altro tipo di pubblico. Sappiamo che alcuni arricciano il naso, ma è stata una bella esperienza. Penso che alla fine le nove canzoni del CD Acoustic Session piaceranno».
Le canzoni sono trasformate, un vero e proprio cambio dei generi musicali; se la base era metal i Koan sono riusciti a distorcerla e farla diventare un rock’n roll, come nel brano «Master and Leader», suonata con al banjo Jacky Ferrari. Qui gli ascoltatori possono chiudere gli occhi e sentirsi catapultati ai tempi di Grease; oppure nella canzone suonata con Joe Colombo e la sua slide guitar, brano che ti riporta in quel Mississipi degli anni trenta con un blues grezzo suonato fuori dalla veranda di casa. Ma non c’è solo blues, swing, rock’n roll, bensì anche una ballata tenuta in un cassetto per sette anni, brano inedito dei Koan dedicato a una figlia (J.).
Un album quindi da ascoltare, che riporterà melodie, anche tribali, e strumenti inconsueti sul palco. La presentazione ufficiale di A-session si terrà l’11.11.2011 al San Marino di Melano alle 22. Alla serata ci saranno artisti ospiti e il concerto sarà in veste unplugged. Ma non solo perché i Koan sono già presenti (prima data il 15 settembre scorso) sul palcoscenici della zona. Infatti il 14 ottobre suoneranno al Bar Ticino (alle 21.00) e il 3 dicembre allo Splendido di Novazzano (alle 22.00).
Il CD sarà acquistabile nei soliti punti vendita del Cantone e le notizie principali reperibili sul sito ufficiale dei Koan o seguendo il gruppo Facebook.

The KOAN project was formed in Ticino Switzerland in 2006.
The powerful musical tracks and melodic voice distinguishes the genre which is defined as “Grunge-Cross-Core” in which all their musical influences accompany each member in his own musical experience.

The first album was produced in March 2007 entitled: ¿ Freedom ? From that moment on the band was recognized at an international level in the 13 songs of ¿ Freedom ?. Compactness shines through with an echoing of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden, without any explicit citations.
The mastering of this album (¿ Freedom ?) has been left in the gifted hands of Tom Hutten of Bionic Mastering of New York, who has also provided services to Foo Fighters, Iggy Pop and more.

The effort put forth by KOAN to promote their album has resulted in the total sale of all their stamped albums, along with positive write ups from different publications by some of the most-known rock publications in Europe (Metal.de in Germany and Metal Hammer Italy and Spain).

In June 2008 KOAN, headed back to the studio to record their new album entitled BROKEN.
BROKEN will be produced by Ste Scenini of Stairwaystudio of Melano Ticino Switzerland, who will collaborate once again with Tom Hutten of Bionic Mastering of New York for mastering.
The new album will be published in April 2009.

KOAN performs in various areas including from the Gottard alps down to the Italian penisula, teaming up with renowned international bands such as: No use for a name (USA), Useless ID (Israel), The Movement(DK), Natan (Belgium), Elvenking (Italy) and Eluvetie (Switzerland).

October 2010 the band back in the studio, to work on new album… ACUSTIC version (Unplugged)…will be ready in 2011
